HEY FLICKERS!
I know, it's been a while... We've not spoken since Christmas, can you believe it? Things have been CRAZY down at Flicknife HQ. But, if you think anything as minor as a government enforced lockdown in order to halt the spread of a nigh on apocalyptic pandemic is going to stop us putting out new tunes, you've not been paying attention.
So, New Blog? New Blog!
We have some great releases for you...
First up!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2020 to all FLICKERS
Hey FLICKERS
It's beginning to look a lot like FLICKMAS!
It's that time of year, known by most as the *end* of the year, when we're inclined to look back and consider the events of the past 12 months.
Overall, there were many and varied explosive world changing events this year. Referendums, Impeachments...truly life changing stuff.
But we're not going to talk about that. It's boring and depressing. Let's talk about music...

HEY FLICKERS!
They say that those who don't know their history, are doomed to repeat it. So, today, we plan to save a few souls by telling you all about a great and much liked chapter of Flicknife's History.
In the early 80's we released the first album of what would grow to be an ongoing and much loved musical omnibus: 'Hawkwind, Friends & Relations' known to those in the know, or those that wish to pretend to such, as HFAR. The idea was simple: release an album with a couple of tracks from Hawkwind, mostly archive stuff or out of stock singles, and then add in a nice mix of bands and artists that were in some way connected to the band, or extended Hawkwind Family. By doing this, our hope was that the new bands could profit a bit, via connection to the Hawkwind name, and Hawkfans would get some tracks from their favourite band that they might not already own and discover new ones from like-minded bands.. Everybody was happy!

HEY FLICKERS!
So, apparently there’s some site called Spotify, where you can stream music. Fun idea, right? Well, we thought we’d jump on this idea while it was still new and fresh. So, only a brief 10 years after it opened, we’ve made a few Playlists to share with you, our favourite fans!

Want to know what's better than finding a new track, that you really love?
Finding a hidden gem, that you nearly missed!
In the name of digging up some hidden gems, we decided to highlight a few of our releases that flew under the radar a little. All critical successes, but didn't find the traction we felt they deserved.
Shining light into the dark corners of the Flicknife Vaults, here's a selection of absolute crackers that you probably don't have in your music collection... but you really should!
Lastwind 'Return Of A Sonic Assassin' Paul Hayles (ex- Hawkwind/Sonic Assassins) new combo Lastwind's first CD was well received by the press: 'What an album! From the moment the first track settles in its trance ambient groove, you know things bode well' - Rich Deakin, Shindig! But it never really found its niche in the markets. Which is a real shame, because it's a solid album, probably one of the best we've ever done! It's an album which ticks every box for a Space Rock fan, while challenging the genre and bringing its own fresh style. And if you enjoy this, ya know... they've got a new album out soon. Check out Return Of A Sonic Assassin here.

HEY FLICKERS!
Got some great stuff for you today: Three new releases, and a freakin book!
First up, We have Lastwind and their new album 'High On Life' (SHARPCD19108). Lastwind are the new outfit from former Hawkwind member Paul Hayes, so you know these guys are the real deal! And if it’s a history lesson you’re after, why not check out Paul’s new book? "Sonic Assassin - a life". And before you ask, no! This is not a book about Paul’s journey to murder a fast blue hedgehog. It’s a gritty, all access, no holds barred tale of Paul’s time in Hawkwind, and so much more. But don’t take our word for it, why not check out the official blurb: 'Paul Hayles biography is a fast moving story deeply embedded in the music and entertainment business. With some very famous friends, bands and tours, Paul takes us through what it was like working with the greats and living to tell the tale. Paul never wanted to be in a cult rock band like Hawkwind and yet there he was, setting out on a journey that would take him away from his young family and make his wildest dreams come true. Paul knew Lemmy Kilmister from way back: both had auditioned for the same band before Hawkwind came together...'

HEY FLICKERS!
It’s that time of year again when we all gather together with our families to cower inside, terrified of the all-seeing, all-knowing eye of the Crimson One, K’rizz Kringgl, better known as Satan Claus. But as you huddle together for safety, take a moment to gaze back with us, at the year we survived and think of the events that made it so memorable...
There were many good times!
Wills and the Willing released the excellent 'Villa' which made it to #14 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Charts. A well-earned ranking for a great track! Check their new track 'Mercy's Door' with Moya Brennan, the voice of Clannad.
Check it on Amazon or iTunes.

HEY FLICKERS,
You’ll notice this blog is a little late (it’s actually so late for September, it’s basically early for October), there are two main reasons for this.

HEY FLICKERS!
This month, we figured we'd embrace one of the necessary evils of modern business. That's right, I'm talking about the dreaded "Social Media" *ominous thunder*.
Social media, in theory, is a BRILLIANT tool for small companies and artists from all over the world to connect, share their resources and bring their music to the world. I'm sure we all have stories of bands and labels that have met over Facebook or Twitter, and gone on to dominate the world. Even *shudder* Justin Boober, or whatever he's called, got his start on YouTube. In Theory, Social media is a wonderful way for people in countries all over the world to reach out and tell artists they've never met how much they LOVE their music. In practice though, it's more often used by people all over the world to call each other names and troll.
But you miss 100% of the chances you don't take. So OF COURSE Flicknife are all over social media, and I figured I'd take this opportunity to catch you guys up, on our plethora of platforms, so you can stay up to date with all our news and other nonsense!
